Should we be worried about 2012?
It’s a question worth asking because a lot of people are. What IS so special about 2012? Why is there countless, varied theories about it? About controversial topics like this, there are only usually one or two theories but 2012 takes the piss!
For the exact reason that almost every other theorist has a different theory about it, I believe that we don’t need to worry. I think it may be the case of everybody jumping on the bandwagon. And this angers me so much. If you want to promote a conspiracy and potentially scare people, then at least have the decency to be telling the truth. Below I’ll list the conspiracies that i’ve heard about and let you make your own mind up.
Firstly, there’s this Mayan Calendar isn’t there? Made by the Mayan Tribe thousands of years ago. Their whole society revolved around this calendar and time (they probably had a better system for measuring time than we do) and with this calendar, by studying the stars and things, they predicted events that would happen in the future. Fair enough, that could have happened, but we can’t prove that it did or it didn’t. The alarming part that scares people, however, is that the calendar suddenly ends on December 21st 2012, after some massive 25,000 year countdown or something. So this is where people jump in and say the world is gonna end etc etc. Many theorists use the Mayan Calendar for justification of their own theories about what will happen in 2012 and this annoys me because you can’t base a theory on the end of some calendar! The 25,000 year countdown may end in 2012 but you want me to suggest why the Mayans didn’t have a new countdown planned? Because they thought they’d still be here to make the new calendar and what would be the point in making the new calendar if the old one hadn’t finished. God, it’s like me buying a 2009 calendar when I’ll still be using my 2008 one for four months. Do you get my point?
So from the Mayan theory alone and my suggestion as to why the Calendar ends and a new countdown doesn’t start, you can see that all of the theories justified by the Mayan Calendar are bound to be tosh. The Mayan Calendar, however, was deeply prophetic and predicts many things. For example, the 25,000 year countdown ends with planet Earth, the sun and the moon being aligned in the center of the galaxy – this sprouts off more theories. The undeniable thing about the Mayans is that they had some skill about them to see thousands of years into the future, although they way people are misinterpreting things now is ridiculous.
All of this activity with being in the center of the galaxy and stuff, is going to cause a pole reversal, some theorists say. I don’t know how this would work but it is obviously something to do with magnetic fields. Could the north pole really become the south pole and vice versa? I’m guessing no if it has anything to do with 2012. Nevertheless, I think anybody can see that such a pole reversal would have diabolical effects on the Earth and due to mass destruction/death, it probably would be the end of the world for most. Whether this happens or not is a different story. I’ve seen so many things about 2012 that I don’t know what to believe and all of the theories can’t be true. I think it’s definitely the ‘bandwagon syndrome’.
Oh and then there’s NIBIRU!! Otherwise known as ‘planet X’ or the tenth planet. Apparently, this is gonna arrive 2012 and crash into our planet some say. Others say this will cause the pole reversal. Others say the fallen angels/annunaki live there. I’m sorry but … oh my god, when there are so many different theories, how can it be true? In 1930, Pluto was discovered wasn’t it. It’s TINY. Really small. It could be mistaken for a moon. Then why …… hasn’t Niburu been discovered yet if it’s like the size of Saturn? With our brilliant modern technology a tenth planet occupying this solar system would have been found!! “Oh, but the government are covering it up from us all,” I hear some fools respond. No, how could they cover up a gigantic planet from all of the astronomers in the world? How could they make sure that every single person, whether professional or casual, with a telescope, would not see Niburu?
There’s brilliantly observational theories in the world and then there’s this fear-mongering trash. It really winds me up that people can lie about such things. One video on Youtube said that Niburu will come into sight in 2012 but at the moment it’s only visible to people in Antartica! How convenient! Too bad only the penguins and Captain Scott can prove it! And on another video, I was presented slide after slide of Nibiru photos. Red circles, could have been anything really. And other photos were taken of ‘Niburu’ next to the sun. I LAUGHED. You know what ‘Niburu’ was? That little reflection of light coming off the sun in photos and footage, you know when there are like one or two mini suns reflecting off the lense? Utter bollocks it is. And they are taking some people for fools.
The spiritualists also have a view. In 2012, Earth is going to move into a higher realm of consciousness. HORRAAAAY!….. Tell me folks, what ISN’T gonna happen in 2012 eh? Apparently we are all going to get the choice to stay on the planet (falling to pieces at the time) or go up to the higher realm. God, where’s the choice haha? And the biblical guys say that there is actually no choice and that we are chosen based on our behaviour. Basically, they are saying that 2012 is a sort of judgement day.
Lovers of David Icke should not fear because he mentions no ‘end of the world’ in 2012. And that’s interesting. If he really is a controlled conspiracy theorist, like I talk about in another article, then he knows what is in store for the world and the end definitely isn’t in sight. I don’t think we can trust this man’s allegiance though he does speak some sense about things and I believe that having no conspiracies about 2012 is one of them. Then again, if this guy is controlled by the very people he is exposing, then maybe they want him to remain ignorant of 2012 and keep us in the dark. Who knows?
All’s I know is that because there are so many theories surrounding 2012, based on the end of the Mayan calendar (which in my opinion isn’t a justifiable reason), it just seems like everybody is claiming to have the answers when really they are just frauds. Heed the words of David Icke, but do not trust the man – I believe his lack of 2012 conspiracy means nothing will happen considering he has been right about everything else so far. Be wary about 21st December 2012, but do not live in fear. If it’s our time to go then it’s our time to go, there’s not much we can do about it. Spend christmas at home just incase guys, but I assure you, there’s probably nothing to fret about!

Personally I think their calendars are off by 3 or 4 years since something is going to happen 2008 or 2009.

Let me tell you two last things please. One, it is this, that I am told by the great storytellers of our tribes, that fresh water is not native to our earth. That at one time, many thousands of years ago a terrible star, or the kind called Mu-sho-sho-no-no, the star with a very long tail, descended very close upon our skies. It came so close that the earth turned upside down and what had become the sky became down, and what was the heavens became up. The whole world was turned upside down. The sun rose in the south and set in the north. Then came drops of burning black stuff, like molten tar, which burned every living thing on earth that could not escape. After that came a terrible deluge of water accompanied by winds so great that they blew whole mountaintops away. And after that came huge chunks of ice bigger than any mountain and the whole world was covered with ice for many generations. After that the surviving people saw an amazing sight. They saw rivers and streams of water that they could drink, and they saw that some of the fishes that escaped from the sea were now living in these rivers. That is the great story of our forefathers. And we are told that this thing is going to happen again very soon. Because the great star, which is the lava of our sun, is going to return on the day of the year of the red bull, which is the year 2012…..
this i beleive is the truth, maybe not something hitting the earth, but every 50,000 years or so the poles of the earth change, this is shown by the sedement in the ground under the sea changes its alignment to the north pole every such period!
i dont beleive all this about the illuminati
but i beleive this and there is no point trying to control it, it cannot be controlled, its the earths natural change, nothing on earth has the power to stop it, with the changing of the poles, there will be unrest, bad storms, another ice age, techtonic activity, i feel amajority of the theories about 2012 seem to link to this statement.
THE LAST TIME THE POLES CHANGES WAS ABOUT 50,100 YEARS AGO SO THE CHANGING OF THE POLES IS LONG OVERDUE!
August 15, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Yeah I’ve heard rumours of stuff happening in 2008 too but I didn’t know people were linking it to this calendar
What sort of stuff have you heard will happen?
And have you read my suggestions as to why the Mayan Calendar ends and a new one doesn’t begin?

[...] start off with Nick Peterson who presents Should we be worried about 2012? posted at Finding the truth. Nick takes on the conspiracy theorist and their fear of the future. [...]

Nice read!
I’m still a skeptic when it comes to the “end times” biz. Maybe the reason the Mayans ended it in 2012 is the same reason we don’t make calendars for 5012: it was a long way away
August 16, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Yeh, exactly my point mate!
And the mayans died thousands of years ago didn’t they? So they wouldn’t have had a new one to replace the one that ends in 2012.
Thus all of these theories are based on an idea that completely overlooks logic. To suggest that the world will end is preposterous when you think logically
August 18, 2008 at 12:36 pm
You are very right we should not belive these types of rumours.
August 19, 2008 at 11:53 am
Very true, the whole thing should not be taken truefully. Thanks for the article.

WHY DONT YOU ALL START HAVING A LOOK AT YOUR OWN PROGRAMMING,IF DEEP ROOTED YOU HAVE A DARWIN BELIEF SYSTEM YOU WILL FAIL TO NOTICE THE GRAND PLAN AND DESIGN.SOMETHING IS KEEPING YOUR TRUE IDENTITY FROM YOU AND THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR DELIBERATE MANIFESTATION.YOU ARE BEING SUPPRESSED AND MIND CONTROLLED ON MANY LEVEL,S.IF ANY INFORMATION LEAVES YOU FEELING DISSEMPOWERED THEN DISREGARD.INTENT AND BELIEF MANIFEST REALITY.PLEASE STUDY THIS INFO.

YOUR WHOLE LIFES A CALANDER,BASED ON THE CONCENSUS OF THE MIND PATTERN OF THE SPECIES,MEANING IF YOU RESTRICT AND CONTROLE SAY AGROUP OF MICE ,IN TURN PROGRAMMING THEIR BEHAVIOUR IT IS NOT HARD TO PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF FUTURE EVENTS,SO DONT CONFORM TO OUTSIDE OPINION OR LOOK TO DAVID ICKE OR ANY OTHER OUTSIDE INFLUENCE TO KNOW THE FUTURE,YOUR FUTURE IS ABOUT HOW YOU THINK NOW.
December 3, 2008 at 6:12 pm
I don’t see how that can b, DEL. well, it obvious that my actions will influence MY future .. but not the global future.
the global future will, inevitably, influence our futures so what how we think as individuals doesnt really change that.
but i believe we are powerful being, yes. and maybe we shudnt listen to disempowering things because our power is lost as a result

you should study law of attraction and i dont mean the glorified movies.alsotry carl jung,s hundredth monkey syndrom,we live in a three dimensional plane where their is a collective conciousness that allows us to share this space and basicaly see the same material objects but within this space time your own experience is down to you.you are a receiver transmitter picking up electromagnetic frequencies wich your brain decodes to suit your own belief and perception,so if you know this then conforming the masses to a certain train of thaught and belief reality will reflect these vibrations.mind manifests reality,if you live in fear the worl becomes it,if you live in love the world reflects it,so much to discuss on this.keep asking my friend.

Yaaaaaay! We were scared until we read this article. You know in the bible in code it says that in 2012 ‘Big rock will fall to earth’. Well it also says ‘Big rock will crumble’. And the Bible was right about all the other stuff. It predicted things that actually happened, like George Bush and the asassination of JFK.
January 1, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I am glad I hav made ppl feel better =]
What does it actually say in the bible? Is it in the code section?
January 21, 2009 at 8:14 am
What IF it is true and we didn’t believe and we die?
I find this similar too Noah’s Ark? Those who didn’t question God survived. And I’m not saying who ever did that dumb calender was God but there were much way earlier on earth than we were so they may be alittle more experienced and know what truly happens.
I also question the FACT that in the bible for those who believe God is stated MANY things that will occur and have occurred?
So what should we be expected to believe when there’s a lota people believing this. Not that we should be a follower and we should believe in what we do but its hard to have a different state of mind when people have many evidence on this 2012? And are constantly mentioning it and preparing for it.
January 21, 2009 at 5:06 pm
maybe there is some truth in it, i simply don’t know. but because there are so many ppl who make things up, it doesnt create a good reputation for the valid theories
I really don’t think all these bad things could happen in one year tho. too many ppl hav jumped on the band wagon because they know ppl take heed to this year
July 20, 2009 at 2:18 pm
i dont know what to think i am still young (12) and confused my god said nothing bad was going to happen something good would. (new period or something) But the other peoples think the world will turn EVIL and everyone would die. But my god said he made the WORLD and would NEVER hurt us. Iam here CRYING because i am just a kid and i might never be a mother I AM SO SCARED IS THERE SCIENTIFIC STUFF ABOUT 2012 PLEASE HELP ME
July 20, 2009 at 8:44 pm
alexis, my dear … try not to be too upset. after all, you cannot believe everything you hear; there is nothing to prove that these theories are true, so you may aswell live your life as u desire, because nothing may even happen in 2012.
try not to think about the future too much, nor the past either. try to think about the ride you will take along the way. live for the moment =)
hope i have helped
August 28, 2009 at 1:12 am
Even if 2012 is true, and even if it will happen, what were these mayans trying to warn us about? Ok so lets say it does happen and before it happened every one believed it would happen, what could they do about it? This ‘warning’ the mayans are giving us is absolutely useless wether we believe it or not. We cant do anything about it. So who cares if you don’t take the warning the mayans gave us because if it does end up happening you’ll die either way wether you believed in it or not.
August 28, 2009 at 11:19 am
ur absolutely right there, steven
there’s not much we can do in the face of apocolyse, so there is no point worrying about it. ppl may aswell live for the moment and enjoy their lives, as it is very likely that everything about 2012 isn’t true
August 31, 2009 at 3:20 pm
alexis- thou shant be worried, thine was born in 2000, there was tell tale of computers malfunctioning, massive data loss, massive destructions, planes falling out of skies, trains malfunctioning. People started fearing the year 2000 y2k while others got rich, like 2000, 2012 is just a brand marketing strategy that will make some people filthy rich, and scare some people shitless, so fear not the year 2012, focus on today
August 31, 2009 at 6:54 pm
u r absolutely right, peepelapue!
the millenium bug wasn’t as catastrophic as some people feared!
September 1, 2009 at 6:07 am
im the sort of person that worries about everything, i only heard bout 2012 from a freind last night and now i have beed worried about it all last night, so im glad i came across this artical as you have made me feel a bit better bout 2012, if i rember rightly wasnt the worl mentto end in sept 1998 i think it was? i can rember being in work and the peopleon the radio was talking and making jokes about it and so was my collegues, and obviously that never happend, and also there has been many other dates it was ment to happen and it hasnt. im sorry if i sound really thick but i dont understand the maylan calender as like i said only heard bout in yesterday, does it actually predict the end of the world or does it just stop???
September 1, 2009 at 1:20 pm
i am glad i have helped, claire
and the mayan calendar … it doesn’t actually predict the end of the world. it predicts the movements of the stars and stuff, thousands of years in advance. but because their predictions have stopped, some ppl hav just assumed the world will end then. wen really, the mayans might not have had the chance to predict further or perhaps the stars start the same cycle of movement all over again
what’s important to know is that the ‘end of the world’ is an INTERPRETATION of the calendar’s meaning. not what it definitely means
September 2, 2009 at 4:10 pm
thanx nickp1991 ,
September 4, 2009 at 4:19 pm
for some reason people only fear what they do not know…there is no point to live your life fearing something you have absolutely no control over.if something is gonna happen then its just going to.but dont worry about that.if your wasting your life being scared theres no point to living?i guess
September 5, 2009 at 2:05 pm
well said, anthony
September 12, 2009 at 1:32 pm
nickp1991 you made me fell alot better no one really thinks this will happen mabe a plane crash or something not that big of a thing thank you so much you realy helped me alot and a thanks to every one else
September 13, 2009 at 4:08 pm
no problem alexis =]
October 13, 2009 at 2:09 am
this allscares me so much…….
i dont wanna die….
whats are we suppose to belive i mean……idk
October 13, 2009 at 6:04 pm
we all die taylor … its just a matter of where and wen
with any luck, our time is not yet and we have nothing to worry about. u may aswell enjoy ur life and assume that nothing is going to happen
U can expect a big fuss and drama as we approach 2012 but dont let it frighten u
October 13, 2009 at 9:40 pm
ok so nick what is the exact thing that the mayans said will happen ans i have a story from my health class…………….
so we are looking at the golbal warming and some one was like
October 13, 2009 at 9:46 pm
i have a story
in health someone was like what do you think will happen in 2012 and Mr.Kelly was like well amy……… i do an dont beleve anything will happen that would kill us all i think like a plane crash or something in that nature. I was like and the mayans didnt predict the end of the world….. they just didnt write the rest of the calander and we would never no becasuse someone could of distoried the OTHER stone with the REST of the calander or we never found it
and he was like well the astonomers said it would end on 12/20/12
and what did they think will happen not what the MEDIA thinks
October 13, 2009 at 9:56 pm
I can’t pretend to know the answers, alexis. I wish I did, but unfortunately ppl can only guess
The Mayans said that at the end of the cycle there would be some sort of change/upgrade. I don’t quite know what they meant by this but it certainly doesn’t sound like they intended the end of their calendar to signify the end of the world
U can bet that as 2012 approaches, the media will make a big deal out of 2012. Just ignore it. They love a good story that makes every1 panic, it means that ppl will watch the news more
and yes, some scientists predict massive geological changes in 2012. i think Earth is moving through some high energy part of the galaxy or something
I hope I have helped you
October 29, 2009 at 4:43 am
i think that there will be an alignment of certain celestial bodies, this can be shown mathematically. out side of that, solar flares can disrupt only our conveniences if the polarity of the earth’s MF changes. this is the point when the mayan’s would have began making thier new calender, should thier race have survived. i dont think peopel realize how much math is involved in the construction of such a device as the mayan calender. that is to say these guys didnt even have calculators. everythign done by hand and by a handful of skilled crafts peopel and other authorities on the subject(astrologists of the time). it should not seem unreasonable to assume that the generation of these time keeping individuals had died off and thier knowledge went with them. i think there is nothing significant to fear, but everyone likes a good hype! and untill discovery channel and news starts telling me otherwise i’m gonna go with my theory! and all you wacko hippies, beatniks, conspiracy theorists, and general media personel..you guys havent changed a bit !
